West Lebanon Library

Lebanon Public Libraries are pleased to offer their patrons access to several outstanding online research databases. The databases on this page are by subscription: access to them has been paid for either by Lebanon Public Library or by arrangement with the State of New Hampshire Library. Access to these databases is for Lebanon patrons only and requires a proper User ID and Password. Please contact the library (Lebanon: 448-2459; West Lebanon: 298-8544) for more information.


Ebscohost

Ebscohost offers patrons access to thousands of full-text journals, both popular and scholarly.

Ebscohost is a research service made up of several parts. Novelist and Novelist K-8 are Reader's Advisory databases that help readers find fiction books to read and include book reviews. TOPICsearch is a database aimed at students to help find information by subject; Children's/YA Resources and Children's Resources provide other databases for students. Information services for adults include Adult Services Resources, Business Resources, and Health Resources.


HeritageQuest

HeritageQuest is a very useful database for genealogy research.  It is available for Lebanon Public Library patrons. HeritageQuest is a history/genealogy database that offers researchers a treasure trove of information. A complete set of U.S. Federal Census Records, 1790-1930, is available for searching. Find information on people and places described in over 25,000 family and local histories. Search the Persi index of over 1.6 million genealogy and local history articles. Special Revolutionary War records are available to search, including Revolutionary War Era Pension and Bounty-Land Warrant Application Files.


Ancestry Library Edition

Ancestry Library Edition is a useful research tool for genealogists.  Come to Lebanon Public Library and try it out! Ancestry Library Edition offers many useful research tools to genealogists. The U.S. Federal Census, 1790-1930 comes with complete images, with many "every-name" census indexes. There is also a UK Census Collection, 1861-1901. The US Immigration Collection offers ships' logs and passenger indexes, linked to images of original documents. Ancestry Library Edition also includes Vital Records and Social Security Death Index with birth, marriage, and death records. The Military Collection lists WWI draft registration cards (98% of males under 46 in 1917-1918). A Comprehensive Reference Collection allows the user to search major genealogy reference books, with over 700 historic and modern maps to browse. In-Library Use Only.


NewsBank

NewsBank is a newspaper database for the Concord Monitor and the Manchester Union Leader. Both papers offer full-text coverage of local and regional news, including community events, schools, politics, cultural activities, local companies, state industries and people in the community. The Concord Monitor archive dates back to October of 2002; the Manchester Union Leader can be searched back to 1989.


Biography Database

The Biography Database connects patrons to the stories of thousands of famous people. Biography Resource Center is an excellent resource from Thomson Gale. This comprehensive online database offers biographical references on people from the areas of literature, science, multicultural studies, business, entertainment, politics, sports, government, history, arts, and newsmakers. The Biography Resource Center contains 400,000 biographies on more than 320,000 people from around the world and throughout history. Biography Resource Center is made possible to our patrons from NHewLink, funded by the New Hampshire State Library. Please call the Lebanon Public Library Reference Desk (448-2559) for the password to this exciting biography database.


Value Line Online

Value Line is an important investment tool.  Check with reference librarians for how to link to this database. Value Line is now online, thanks to this subscription offered by the Lebanon Public Library to its patrons. The library's subscription includes patron access to Value Line Investment Survey - Standard Edition; Value Line Investment Survey - Plus Edition; Value Line Investment Survey - Small & Mid-Cap Edition; Value Line Mutual Fund Survey. Value Line can only be accessed within the library. For help in using this resource, please ask for assistance at the Reference Desk.
